5 Tips to Make Your Auctions Stand Out

Whether you’re already a successful seller on eBay or you’re just starting out, there’s one thing (among many) you should want for your auctions. You should want your auctions to stand out from the rest. By selling on eBay, you’re already diving into some heavy competition, unless you’re selling in a very narrow niche, but even then, if you find ways to stand out, you’ll bring in more traffic, more bids and more money.
How can you make your eBay auctions stand out?
1. Use Your Gallery Image Artistically
Depending on what you’re selling, it might be a good idea to ad a gallery image to your auctions. This, I’m sure you know, is the small image that shows up beside your auction on a search result in eBay. Let’s say your selling the new iPhone (wouldn’t that be awesome?). You can ad a gallery image (for an extra fee of $0.35) with a picture of an iPhone just like everyone else.
Or, you could ad a cool little image that says something clever, like: “The Best iPhone in the World!” or “Get a Free Case with this iPhone”. Anything to stand out. It may sound crazy, but it will definitely get a buyer’s attention.
2. Offer a Bonus
You can use this one with the previous tip. If you offer something free with you auctions, it will give your buyer more incentive to purchase something from you. Take your artistic gallery image and use it to let people know they’ll get something for free if they buy from you.
3. Offer Free Shipping
I know this one isn’t always possible, especially if you’re selling heavy products, but when it is, it’s a good one to use. There are always these sneaky sellers out there with their low starting price and their ridiculously high shipping price. Show your buyers you’re an honest seller. If not free, as low as possible.
4. Add Audio to Your Auctions
Give your buyer a little rest from the reading. There’s no better way to personalize your auction then to have your own voice right there. Add a quirky line or two, tell them a little more about your product. Let them know you took the time to record something just so they’ll know they’re getting a good deal.

5. Spend Money
Not always the most popular way, but you can just fork out the cash and use eBay’s Listing Upgrades to make your auctions stand out. The extras fees might seem low, but be careful to not rack up a bunch of fees if your return on investment won’t cover it.

Using all of these techniques separately will definitely help you stand out from the crowd. Combine some or all, and you’ll be sure to bring in a lot more bids and sales. You can thank me later.

Good tips, but make sure the audio isn’t auto-start, that is a really annoying thing. Especially for those people who are supposed to be working in their cubicles. Videos might be a cool idea as well for products that require a full 360 view.
